  • RoboCup Robots

RoboCup is an international initiative to promote Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and related fields. It fosters research by providing a standard problem where a wide range of technologies can be integrated and examined. RoboCup uses the soccer game as a central topic of research, aiming at innovations to be applied for socially significant problems and industries. Research topics include design principles of autonomous agents, strategy acquisition, real-time reasoning, robotics, and multi-agent collaboration, which this paper aims at contributing to. 2D,3D and human simulation is our major project in the study.

2D
The Robocup 2D simulation competition proposes a dynamic environment where two opponent teams are confronted in a simplified soccer game. The rules are basically same with that of the International Federation of football game. Type for competition is a standard robot soccer simulation software platform called SoccerServer provided by RoboCup committee.

3D
The RoboCup soccer simulation 3D league has taken a big step forward to the RoboCup’s ultimate long-term goal Since the 2007. The simspark with humanoid robots was used in RoboCup-2007. In 2008, the development of simulation 3D is heart-stirring. The better agent model, called Nao, has been used in the competition. In RoboCup-2008, 3Vs3 has been tested, and the competition of 4Vs4 is also actualized in China Open 2008. The simspark is an experimentally platform for researchers of humanoid robots behavior. Comparing with real humanoid robots, humanoid simulation environment has advantage in costs and convenience, so we can experiment on methods and algorithms for humanoid soccer behaviors in order to optimize them and apply results in real humanoid robots finally.

There are three group in our study : Small size,Middle size,Family group.

Small size

Nowadays, there are six types totally designed for small size robots.
Middle size
The Middle Size League team of the “SHU Strive-Legends” was founded in 2004. It was developed in the base of RoboCup Small Size League which had won the champion in RoboCup Iran Open 2007 & 2008. In RoboCup world championship 2008, our team proceeded to the last 8 teams. In RoboCup China Open 2009, we won the 2nd place of the Technical Challenge and that is same to RoboCup China open 2010.T The basis for our success was the robust and reliable robot body, the powerful kicker device, efficient algorithms and team members’ great passion. Our main research interests are well-mechanical structure for middle-size soccer robots, the development of
Family group
The Strive@Home of Shanghai University was established in 2007. We participated with honor in the RoboCup China Open 2007, 2008, 2009 Competition. Thanks to the outstanding performance of our robot in the game,we won the fourth place in 2007, runner-up in 2008,quarterly in 2009. And we are expecting that our robot will better its performance in the RoboCup World Championship 2010 in Singapore.
